CONTRIBUTIONS
The Mac 3D Team is starting to have an impact due to
the support we are receiving from team members and organizations interested in expanding
the use of 3D on the Macintosh.

Media And Organizational
Support
|
Thanks to the efforts of Mac 3D Team members, we are starting to get exposure
from the media and Macintosh organizations. We still have a long way to go to get
effective exposure. We depend on you to drop a note to the media, Macintosh support
organizations, and especially the worldwide Macintosh User Groups and let them know
about the Mac 3D Team. If you see a Mac
3D Team mention or banner, e-mail
us with the location.

Fighting Wintel 3D
| We are starting to get some great help from Mac 3D Team
supporters to get schools and others away from Wintel and onto the Macontosh for
their 3D work. Gary Parkes
provides a good example of what can be done. He says, "I know a number of profesionals
who use Macs for design and visualisation; and I will inform them of the release
of 3DJoy. Also I know some Mac resellers who could use the 3DJoy release as a selling
point. Finally, I still have good contact with the University at which I was trained;
I will be informing them of 3DJoy as at present they use only Wintel machines for
3D visualisation in their design faculty." I definitely would like to see much
more of this kind of effort. |
Apple And MUG Support
| Frank McIntyre of Pixel Workshop
and the coordinator of the Washington DC/Virginia Mac Animation User's Group is presenting
the Mac 3D Team information to his group
and the Apple Market Center headquarters in Reston VA. |
User Tutorials
| One of the most important contributions that can be made
are tutorials from 3DJoy users. To get newcomers to 3D get started, Steve "Sahuen
submitted a Beginners Tutorial that takes you through the entire process, from modeling to animation
with 3D Sound. |
Contest Winners
| The contest to design a replacement for the banner at the
top of the page resulted in a two-way tie between Patrice Depre from France and Kfir
Weizman from Israel. It's great to have international support and we are displaying
both banners on the site. The current Mac 3D Team banner was the winning contest
entry submitted by Jason Asato. |
Models
| Lee Patterson at Northcross provided 50 Megs worth of models
for the upcoming 3Djoy CD. These will be added
to the existing character, vehicle, and furnishing models already collected. The
models are compiled from the corporate, product, and commercial interior design the
award winning Northcross Group for clients like Hewlett-Packard, Seagram, and LEGO. |

Tj Marbois has sent in some great images for the upcoming
3Djoy CD and says "Ive done
and am doing
professional design work for Disney, FOX, Nickelodeon - most of it is conceptual
design (pre-production stuff) - Im more of a story teller than a 3d designer....Its
just the tool I use cause I cant draw!! Currently Im working on creating a promo
piece for a cartoon concept thats being pitched to a few networks and movie companies.....I
am constantly amazed at the quality and ease of use of the VIDI modeler....This image
is a testament to its abilities....(because Im a pretty weak artist! -but the stuff
it does makes it easy for me to look impressive!)
Thanks for all your great work! I know it will pay off.....I wish you guys the best
of luck." |
